Our Mission

Grimm and Leslie started this blog because they're not accountable enough for their diet and exercise regimen on their own to document their journey and develop a community of support where the fear of your judgment can keep them in line to reach their fitness goals.

If you're up for the trip, there's room for more.

Milestones

You ever have those days where you think you have this wonderful, fabulous idea and 10 minutes into it you begin wondering what in the hell you were thinking?

Yeah, that was me today. We went on our first run of the year today - my first bad idea. It was 34 freaking degrees outside yet we still went out. My second mistake of the day was giving my wife the option of running 3.1 miles or a longer 4 mile course. And while my brain was thinking that she would be sensible and choose the shorter distance my heart knew she would not. Because my wife is stubborn as hell and took my option as a challenge (she's weird like that).

So 1 mile in, the remnants of the cold in my chest began to surface and I began to hack up some nice flemballs along the trail. That in itself didn't cause be any problems, but my stomach would tighten up with every cough I made and by the 1.5 mile mark, I was cramping up pretty bad. When I met my wife coming the other direction after making the turn at the 2 mile mark (I had given her a 10:00 head start), I was about to tell her that I wasn't going to make it.

I say was, because my wife was raising her arms it defiance - yelling "WHOO-HOO!!!! WE ARE GOING TO DO 4 MILES!!! WE CAN DO IT!!!

I developed a strong dislike at my wife at that solitary moment because I knew I would be finishing - and probably puking my guts out afterward. But you know, as much as I wanted to trip her or shove her into a big mud puddle, I didn't. I knew if it wasn't for her this very day, I would not have finished. And even though my muscles are aching and I am physically exhausted still after eight hours of rest, I know that I am a better person because of my wife.

Hopefully, I can scale her back to 2 miles or a 5K next time.

Workout
My workout today consisted of not Jillian Michaels, but of my wonderful idea to go for the first outside run of the year...in 34 degree weather. I believe I hurt more muscles than I knew I even had.
