Our Mission

Grimm and Leslie started this blog because they're not accountable enough for their diet and exercise regimen on their own to document their journey and develop a community of support where the fear of your judgment can keep them in line to reach their fitness goals.

If you're up for the trip, there's room for more.

This Really Blows

We all know that dieting sucks, but if we (I) can fit an adequate eating routine around our busy schedules, we should be able to stay on track and everything will take care of themselves, right?

Right?

Now, if I can only teach my stomach that. I was at 1400 calories as of 3:00pm and still managed to blow my calorie budget - even with 5 hours of sleep in those remaining 9 hours. Would somebody PLEASE hide those freaking Klondike bars whenever I go to my fathers house? Errrrr.

Workout
If you consider oversleeping for work a workout, then yes - I had quite a good workout.

Otherwise, no workout for me.

Back To The Grind (No, not the MTV show)

Even though I really wasn't totally my fault, I know that I will take the brunt of the blame for our time away from this project. While the truth is that we were awaiting news of what exactly Leslie could and could not do while pregnant, you can believe we took this opportunity to indulge a little in some foods not necessarilly deemed dietary correct.

I mean, when your pregnant wife wants McDonalds for lunch - you can't exactly say no can you? You could, I guess - but that could result in you sleeping on the couch for the next nine months.

So I will confess. I cheated a little. I ate my share of calories - probably more than my share to be correct. So when yesterday I saw that I had crept back over 250 pounds, I rededicated myself to get down to 230 at least, maybe 220 if I am feeling frisky.

It also helps to know that the wife got the go ahead to run again. Now it's back to the old saying...

"Anything those two can do, I can do better."

Workout
45 minutes on the elliptical on Level 5 Afterburn. And while this is the first workout that I have posted, this is actually my third on the elliptical on Level 5 and second going over 5 miles (5.34 miles to be exact) and 1000 calories burned (1065). I really didn't WANT to work out today (I mean, really, who does?) but the fact that my wife is putting the work in with child - well, I can't let her make me look too bad.

I Don't Worry Cause Everything's Gonna Be Alright*

This fat lady ain't singing just yet.

I had the chance to see my doctor who confirmed that I am very much pregnant (with a nice blue cervix, by the way!) and I am cleared to keep working out and eating around 1500 calories a day. I have no restrictions on exercise. If I want to run 4 miles, I can run 4 miles. If I want to run a 5K race, I can run a 5K race! I can go running right up until I have this baby if I feel like it. And I shouldn't need more than 1500 - 1600 calories per day, unless I start to lose a bunch of weight. If that happens, I can increase my numbers. So! I'm back at it, folks. Da Doo Run Run will keep on running!

Head Above The Rest

I'm just curious, do you realize how difficult to carry on a dietary calorie budget when your wife is pregnant and eating for two? It's freaking hard man. And I am failing miserably.

I cannot wait for it to warm up. I would much rather torture my body outside running hill laps or 1/2 mile sprints than ride that elliptical or spend time with Jillian "The Workout Wench" Michaels. You see, with the elliptical, I am a tad too tall and if I don't keep my knees bent at all times, my head cracks the plaster ceiling.

Now while bending my knees during a workout should make that workout that much better, the dent in the ceiling and the cuts on my noggin beg to differ.

Now I here we are getting severe snow storms this weekend. Wonderful.

Workout
I got home around 6:30pm and did...absolutely nothing. Except whine and complain about how tired I was.

Um, I Just Woke Up - What Just Happened?

Excuse me, I just happened to pick myself off of the floor after getting the news of the newest release of Grimmett Vista, would you be so kind as to tell me what I did over the least two days? Because, honestly - I have know clue.

Apparently, I have been walking around in a dumbfounded zombie-like state, much to the amusement of my wonderful family. I have no clue what I have eaten or just what I have been doing, so it looks like I will just pretend those last two days didn't happen. Yeah, that's it.

What's that? My wife is WHAT?!?

Workout
45 minutes on the elliptical on Level 4 Hill Run - The last of the Level 4 runs. According to devious device, I went 4.57 miles and burned 924 calories - both highs for a 45 minute run. However, I long to get outside again.

My perspective has changed now that I'm pregnant, which I guess it should. I used to be concerned only with my calorie total, because I knew I'd lose weight as long as I took in less than I used. Now, I'm thinking a lot more about the quality of calories I'm consuming and I realize I need to do better. I need some vegetables in my life!
